First responders were called to White's Point in Little Current to look for an overdue snowmobiler on Thursday, April 17

An overdue snowmobiler on Manitoulin Island has been found deceased.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to White's Point in Little Current at around 4:30 a.m. Thursday after the person failed to return.

The 48-year-old was recovered from the water, then airlifted to hospital where they were confirmed deceased.

Several agencies were involved in the search including OPP’s Emergency Response Team, an OPP Canine Unit, OPP Aviation Services, a Manitoulin OPP Marine Unit, OPP underwater search and recovery unit, Northshore Search and Rescue, UCCM Remotely Piloted Aircraft System and Canine Unit, Wikwemikong Surveillance, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre, and the Manitoulin OPP Crime Unit.
