Update
The OPP has provided more information about the man whose body was found in Lake George.
He was from Toronto.
The man was last seen on March 20, 2025, in the area of Wigwaus Street in Garden River First Nation.
His body was found in Lake George, approximately 2 km from where he was last seen.
The post mortem is scheduled for today at the Sault Area Hospital.
Any further information would have to be shared by the coroner’s office.
It is not a criminal investigation.
The OPP regularly assists the Indigenous Policing Bureau and our First Nation policing partners, as the OPP has additional resources and specialty units.

The body of a missing person has been found in Lake George, east of Garden River First Nation.
On April 11, the Garden River Detachment of the Anishinabek Police Service was notified of a missing person who was last seen in Garden River First Nation.
The Sault Ste Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police assisted with the investigation.
On April 12 at approximately 11:20 a.m., the missing person was located deceased in Lake George.
The Sault Ste. Marie OPP is now investigating the sudden death, under the direction of the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
Also assisting is the OPP's North East Region Emergency Response Team, the Sault Ste. Marie OPP Crime Unit, Forensic Identification Services, the Garden River Detachment of the Anishinabek Police Service, Batchewana First Nation Police Service, and Sault Ste Marie Fire Services.
The OPP confirmed the individual's identity will not be released as it's not a criminal investigation.
