Sault man charged with impaired in Laird following single-vehicle crash

The driver and three passengers were uninjured in the collision

On Nov. 17, 2019 at approximately 3:20 a.m. members from the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment were responding to a call for service in Laird Township.

While enroute, officers encountered a single motor vehicle collision on Lake George Road, Laird Township. The vehicle had left the roadway and was stuck in the ditch. 

Officers stopped to assist and investigate the collision. The driver and three passengers were uninjured in the collision.

As a result of further investigation, Nigel Cormier, 30 years-old of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario was charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - alcohol or drugs, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC),
  • Operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the CC.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Dec. 16, 2019 located at 426 Queen Street, Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.
