Barn fire destroys animals LAIRD TWP, ON - Ontario Provincial Police along with the Echo Bay Fire Department responded to a barn fire at approximately 9 p.m. yesterday evening on Cemetery Road in Laird Township.

LAIRD TWP, ON - Ontario Provincial Police along with the Echo Bay Fire Department responded to a barn fire at approximately 9 p.m. yesterday evening on Cemetery Road in Laird Township.

The owners were not home at the time of the fire but were called by a neighbour who also called the Echo Bay Fire Department.

The barn was a 30 x 30 foot cedar-framed structure with a tin roof.

One horse and 10 puppies perished in the fire.

The fire has been ruled accidental.
