TWO TRACTOR TRAILERS WERE ONE OF FIVE CRASHES
Echo Bay, Ont.,
A crash involving two tractor trailers was one of five different collisions Sault Ste Marie OPP attended to yesterday.
Yesterday at about 3:45 p.m. an officer with the Sault Ste Marie Detachment was traveling on Hwy 17 the Echo Bay area. He stopped behind a line of traffic, including two transports, that had stopped for a school bus. When the school bus left the area the two trucks did not continue on their way.
A quick walk to the front of the first rig quickly revealed that the last transport had slid into the first one. No one was injured in the collision.
The second transport had major damage and remained on the highway until a large tow truck could remove the unit off the roadway. The driver of “truck two”, forty nine year old Gary WHITEHOUSE of Etobicoke Ontario has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act with Follow Too Close.
No one was injured in any of the other four crashes yesterday. But once again, tow trucks were needed to get all four out of the ditches and on their way.
