On November 8, 2016 at approximately 5:20 p.m., North Bay Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Highway 11 and O’Brien Street, North Bay.

Pedestrian hit by vehicle

On Nov. 8, 2016 at approximately 5:20 p.m., North Bay Ontario Provincial Police responded to a report of a collision at the intersection of Highway 11 and O’Brien Street, North Bay.

A vehicle was travelling eastbound on O’Brien Street making a left turn onto Highway 11. A 20-year-old male pedestrian was walking his dog within the pedestrian crosswalk along Highway 11 when the vehicle hit him and his dog. The pedestrian suffered minor injuries and the dog died at the scene.

David Green, age 44 of Corbeil, Ontario was charged with Fail to Yield to pedestrian in crosswalk, contrary to section 144(7) of the Highway Traffic Act.

OPP would like to remind motorists to pay extra attention to their surroundings while travelling in highly populated areas. Continuously scanning the roadway and sidewalks is an excellent habit to get into. Observe and obey the traffic signals and use safe driving skills to drive through these intersections.
