INCREASED ENFORCEMENT ON HWY 17 IN GARDEN RIVER
Garden River First Nation, Ont.,

Sault Ste Marie OPP and the Anishinabek Police Service in Garden River are announcing an increase in traffic enforcement on Hwy 17 on the Garden River First Nation Territory.

As a result of numerous complaints received from residents of the area and school bus drivers using Hwy 17, both police services will step up traffic enforcement along the stretch of highway that runs through the Territory.

Officers will be looking for speeders, as well as motorists who choose not to stop for the flashing red lights on the school buses. Illegal left turns and passing off the roadway on the right are also violations that officers will be looking for.

Officers from the OPP will be using both marked and unmarked police vehicles in our efforts to keep all users of the highway safe from any harm. Police will be asked to exercise no discretion when enforcing the speed limit and all other violations .
