FAILING TO STOP LEADS TO AN IMPAIRED CHARGE

(Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) On February 16th, 2008 at approximately 2:05 am an OPP officer was east bound on McNabb St. The officer was stopped at a stop sign proceeding to turn right onto Boundary Road when he observed a Black 1997 Pontiac Grand Am traveling west on Frontenac Street approach a stop sign and fail to stop and turn left in front of the officer’s marked police vehicle.
The driver was pulled over and further investigation revealed that the driver had been drinking and did not have a driver’s license. Charged with Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle and driving without a driver’s license is 25 year old Christa JORDAN of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario. She is scheduled to appear in court on the 17 March, 2008.

SPEEDING RESULTS IN LIQUOR VIOLATION

(Aweres Township, Ont.) While on routine patrol on Highway 17 in Aweres Township an OPP officer stopped a vehicle for speeding. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer observed open beer in the front seat of the vehicle.
Charged with having open liquor in a vehicle is 21 year old Christopher PARLOW of Huron Street in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario.

SNOWMOBILER INJURED

(Macdonald Twp.( Echo Bay, Ont.)) At 3:30 pm on the 16 Feb. 2008 OPP responded to a single collision involving a snow machine on Iron River Road in Macdonald Twp. The driver, westbound on Iron River Road was attempting to slow down to turn a corner and began sliding. The snow machine hit the snow bank causing the driver to be thrown from the machine and strike a cable wire. The driver received injuries and was transported to Sault Area Hospital by ambulance.

VEHICLE LOOSES CONTROL

(Fisher Township, Ont.) On Sunday, the 17th February 2008 at 11:45 am a vehicle traveling southbound on Highway 17 lost control and skidded onto the shoulder striking the guard rail. No one was injured but the vehicle required a tow truck to be removed.

TOO COLD TO STAY OUTSIDE AT MINUS 24 DEGREES CELSIUS

(Havilland Twp.) At approximately 3:30 am this morning a resident of Havilland Township was preparing to leave for work when he noticed footprints in the snow on his property. The tracks lead to a small cottage on his property which appeared to have been entered.
OPP officers were called and attended to check the cottage to find one male inside. The male was identified as 18 year old Michael TOULOUSE of Port Franks, Ontario. TOULOUSE was subsequently arrested and charged for Failing to Comply with his Recognizance by not residing with his surety and Trespassing. He is to appear in bail court this morning.
