SEARCHMONT - On June 8, 2018, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) along with the North East Region Crime Unit initiated an investigation of a break and enter in Searchmont, Ont.
Investigation revealed numerous items missing including a Yamaha 660 Grizzly all-terrain vehicle (ATV), a Kawasaki KLR 650 trail bike, numerous tools, and three firearms equaling a value of approximately $30,000.
Police have recovered several items, however many items remain outstanding including, tools, the Kawasaki KLR 650 and a firearm.
As a result of a joint investigation with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service, the OPP have arrested and charged two males.
Tony Agawa, 26-years-old of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was charged with the following:
• One count - break and enter a place-commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the Criminal Code (CC)
• One count - fail to comply with recognizance contrary to section 145(3) of the CC
William Hubert Elie, 23-years-old of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. was charged with the following:
• One count - break and enter dwelling house-commit indictable offence contrary to section 348(1)(b) of the CC
• Two counts - fail to comply with probation order contrary to section 733.1(1) of the CC
