A driver Ontario Provincial Police say had a suspended licence is facing several charges after being pulled over in Blind River.
An officer patrolling at around 11 p.m. Monday spotted a speeding vehicle heading west along Causley Street (Highway 17).
Once the grey car was pulled over, the officer learned the driver had a warrant out for his arrest.
Police say he was also a prohibited driver, had numerous licence suspensions and cannabis readily available.
Yaroslav Verbitski, 36, of Mississauga has been charged with:
- Drive motor vehicle - perform stunt - excessive speed
- Operation while prohibited under the Criminal Code - two counts
- Driving while under suspension (two counts)
- Driving under licence of other jurisdiction while suspended in Ontario
- Operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- Operate unsafe vehicle
- Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle
- Use plate not authorized for vehicle
- Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available - two counts
In addition, the car was impounded.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
