If it means not waiting a year to see if I have cancer then yes, I'll pay.

I did pay for private medical services several years ago in Sault Michigan.
It was going to be a 6 month wait to see a dermatologist in Sault Ontario in regards to pre-cancerous skin lesions and I saw one within 2 weeks in Sault Mi. which turned out to be $130 well spent. I was treated in a very professional manner and I continue to use the same medication he prescribed then when necessary.

We should be reimbursed by the ministry of health, our tax dollars, it’s necessary health care, which was to be provided with our tax dollars!

You are correct, it is a failure of our medical system with wait times. If we need to go to the US to see a doctor due to wait times, OHIP should be sending us a cheque back for costs.

One of the major reasons the US is so much quicker is because so many people decide not to bother (or they simply just can't) because of the cost.

Don't get me wrong, if I needed something, I'd go there in a heartbeat - but I'd be aware that their service is speedy because there are people unable to use it.

That isn’t the reason opinionated. Your name suits you.

people in Canada do not realize the cost of health care. that is why we are in the mess we are in, so many people abusing the system, and then when people need it, its not available. We are in a CRISIS right now, if you look around there are so many people becoming elderly and requiring service at the same time and we are not prepared for it. Unfortunately, many do not have the money to go to the States, or the ability. .....

The same generation that is suffering is the same generation that brought us to where we are. They spent very little on necessary infrastructure while it was their generation that ran things. So whose fault is it really?

exactly Chris.

they voted for austerity the last 40 years and now they're angry about the bed they've made for themselves (and the rest of us). want to see changes? stop the liberal/conservative voting carousel.

I said no to make the point that the powers that be must never begin to think that Canadians believe they should pay on site for health services. A nominal monthly fee that reminds everyone that health care has a cost and that helps to fund the system, that I can live with.

I had a major surgery in Bay City Michigan because the wait list was too long in Ontario, and my condition was life-threatening. Because of that, OHIP paid for the entire surgery and my time spent in Bay City (I had to be there for a week, so hotel and meals). The total cost paid by OHIP was $22,000.

Let's not put seniors on the back burner.. after all they are the pioneers...

Yes. I rather find out my diagnosis now than to wait 6 months, maybe years to see a specialist.

Healthcare should be privatized. Competition is GOOD and you will save a TON in taxes.

I'll send you the bill.

Wont save enough from taxes to cover the huge costs of private healthcare.

I recall just before the pandemic trying to see an orthopaedic surgeon for a knee issue. Told it would be 6-9 months before i could get in. Called War Memorial and was told even with a 30% discount for cash it would cost about 6 grand for a scoping of torn meniscus. It would happen within 1 week.
