SAULT STE. MARIE, MICH. - On Friday, Oct. 25, from 5 - 8 p.m., Downtown Sault Ste. Marie Main Street will host its annual Halloween SpookTacular. Festivities kick off with safe trick or treating along Ashmun Street and Portage Avenue at participating businesses and continue into the evening with varying tricks and treats.
Businesses participating in downtown trick or treating can be identified by “Trick or Treat Here” window signage. Event attendees and pets are encouraged to dress in their most creative, unique and impressive costumes to be awarded varying prizes throughout the evening.
Trunk or Treat returns to the Farmers Market Pavilion from 5 - 7 p.m. highlighting area non-profit organizations, clubs and resident businesses joining together to distribute treats from decorated vehicles with All Styles, All Occasions onsite providing dance entertainment and music.
Halloween SpookTacular tradition continues at the Soo Theatre Project, with its annual haunted theatre tour fundraiser. For a nominal $4 fee, ghouls and goblins of all ages will be treated to a themed tour titled “Thriller Night,” featuring local entertainers from STARS and Sault High Drama students.
Following tours, a one night only movie showing of Hotel Transylvania, will be open to the public for a minimal $5 admission. Proceeds will benefit The Soo Theatre Project.
Concluding the evening’s events will be the first-ever Monster Mash walking parade to benefit the Chippewa County Family Project teen foster home initiatives. The community of Sault Ste. Marie is invited to dress up and strut their costumes!
Parade registration is $10 per person or $30 for a family of up to six people, with 100 per cent of the proceeds benefitting Chippewa County Family Project. Registration will take place from 5 - 7 p.m. in the Water’s Edge Clubhouse parking lot.
A replica of the famous car from Ghostbusters and the Wolfshager Hexenbrut Dancing Witches of Sault Ste. Marie are slated to grand marshal the evening’s parade. Spectators are invited out to watch the Monster Mash travel south on Ashmun Street, ending in front of the Soo Theatre.
