A unique and fun fundraiser for a very important service in Sault Ste. Marie is back for a second year.
The Bunkie Lottery organized by and in support of the Group Health Centre (GHC) Trust Fund, is back, with only 10,000 tickets available to be sold!
Proceeds from the Bunkie Lottery will help fund necessary improvements to GHC’s Diagnostic Imaging department, which carries out over 41,000 procedures each year. This year’s fundraising priorities include an upgraded mammography unit and three new ultrasound units; a project with a total cost of over $580,000.
“Investing in diagnostic imaging is investing in lives,” said Lil Silvano, GHC President & CEO. “Advanced imaging equipment ensures faster, more accurate diagnoses, but the cost is significant.”
You can help raise these funds with your purchase of tickets in the Bunkie Lottery, and you will have a chance to win fantastic prizes as well!

This year’s draw features $55,000 in total prizes including five $1,000 early bird draws every Wednesday throughout July. The grand prize draw takes place on August 13, 2025, at 4 p.m. and features the Rockwood 160 Bunkie from Bunkie Life. The winner gets to choose between the Bunkie package which includes the Rockwood 160 Bunkie + $30,000 cash, or an all-cash prize of $40,000.
The GHC Trust Fund is proud to once again partner with Bunkie Life, a trusted, family-run Ontario business dedicated to supporting charitable organizations like Ronald McDonald House Canada and Make-A-Wish Canada. The Rockwood 160 Bunkie is a 160-square-foot bunkie that also features a loft for added storage or living space.
“Bunkies offer endless possibilities, and we’re delighted to bring this opportunity back to the community while raising funds for equipment that will make a lasting impact on patient care,” said Tricia Lesnick, Trust Fund Manager.
Tickets to win this gorgeous bunkie are 1 for $25, 2 for $45, and 4 for $75, and can be purchased online here, in the lobby of Group Health Centre (240 McNabb St.) and at various grocery and hardware stores throughout the summer.
Silvano concluded, “Purchasing a ticket not only gives you a chance to win big, but it helps make a big impact in local healthcare. It’s a small cabin, and a huge win!"
