Celebrate the summer solstice this year with A Night at Harvest, a delicious and entertaining evening that directly supports Harvest Algoma’s work of transforming lives through food.

“A Night at Harvest on June 20 is our second annual fundraiser dinner and silent auction, with all proceeds directly supporting our ongoing food rescue and food security initiatives and programming!” explained Lauren Moran, Harvest Algoma Community Enterprise Manager.

The evening will begin with appetizers and drinks, including a signature cocktail, which guests can enjoy as they roam the Harvest Algoma grounds, including the two greenhouses. “A variety of appetizers will be available including a kebab platter provided by George Khoury of Georgie's Shawarma, everyone’s favourite,” said Moran.

Dinner will be ready at 7 p.m. The menu includes a buffet dinner featuring a local mixed greens salad with roasted beets and sunflower seeds, locally sourced prime rib, duchess potatoes, and roasted seasonal veggies. Dessert will be a strawberry rhubarb tarlet served with vanilla ice cream. Vegan, vegetarian, or gluten free options will be available.

“Dinner will be amazing, and we are also excited about the live music performed by Trevor Tchir and Mark Dunn throughout the evening, as well as a silent auction featuring prizes donated by generous local businesses!” exclaimed Moran.

Moran added, “Programs supported by proceeds from the event include our 4 times weekly food rescue, maintaining our food resource centre for agency access to over 60 food banks, food pantries, and social service agencies across the Algoma district, and our urban farming practices that support our kitchen and food resource centre with hyper-locally grown fresh produce.”

A Night at Harvest is happening June 20 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Harvest Algoma, 446 Second Line East, Sault Ste. Marie. Tickets are $100 each or two for $180 (discount applied at checkout) and can be purchased online here.

“Last year's event was great, and we hope to make this year's even better!” enthused Moran. “A Night at Harvest is the perfect opportunity to have a wonderful dinner, connect with like-minded folks from the community, and support our mission to reduce hunger and food waste in Algoma!”
