Plan A Powered By StaffStat, Canada’s only seniors’ care staffing strategy, has been providing a much-needed solution to LTC and retirement homes across Northern Ontario for more than 12 years.
Founded in Sudbury in 2011 by Sheri Tomchick, Plan A’s mission has always been to keep our seniors safe and cared for and our frontline staff supported. While Plan A initially provided services to homes in Northern Ontario, the company has since experienced tremendous growth and expanded their offerings across Canada with close to 50 locations managed by more than 20 Plan A Owners.
“Providing senior care homes in the Algoma region with only the most dependable and compassionate health care professionals is a promise we have kept to our partners for more than a decade.” said Tomchick.
“When Plan A Algoma’s former franchise owner unexpectedly left Plan A’s mission and vision, we knew we had to pivot quickly to ensure we were providing the same level of service our partners had grown accustomed to, while continuing to support our pool of health care professionals during this unexpected change.”
While temporarily shifting operations to the corporate office in Sudbury, the company knew that the most logical solution was to pass the baton to Bill and Christine Hall, a husband-and-wife duo local to the region, who found much success in bringing the Plan A model to other Ontario cities and provinces.
Fondly referred to as “Team Hall” by the Plan A franchise system, these entrepreneurs are the dynamic force behind Plan A Durham, Mississauga, Niagara, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, and most recently Thunder Bay. Born and raised in Elliot Lake, the Halls quickly jumped at the opportunity to take ownership of the Algoma region.
“Being the new Owners of Plan A Algoma provides us with a sense of pride. We can provide the communities we call home with a proven staffing model for the LTC sector and offer meaningful employment to so many amazing health care professionals across our region.” said Christine Hall. “We love doing this important work especially in these tough times, and we’re really excited about working in the Algoma district. As a company, we make sure our partners know that we will provide a service they can count on. My skills, which developed over 25 years as an RPN, pharmacy technician, and GPA education assistant, along with Bill’s background in business allow us to do just that. We also believe that being born, growing up, and living in Northern Ontario gives us a unique understanding of the needs of these rural communities. We are looking forward to creating long-lasting relationships with the sector, our frontline, and the communities that hold a special place in our hearts for years to come.”
Powered by StaffStat, their born in-house automated shift-filling software, Plan A connects caring and compassionate health care professionals to open shifts in more than 1000 senior care homes across the country.
“Plan A & StaffStat come together to offer a winning Long Term Care Staffing Strategy. We not only feel like we gained a partner we can rely on, we are confident that we have found a team who consistently delivers on integrity, people, and innovation.” – Fraser Wilson, Former VP of LTC, Chartwell
