All four locations of I.D.A. Drug Marts across Sault Ste. Marie now offer walk-in clinics, on-site appointments with a nurse, home telemedicine visits, and free prescription deliveries in order to better serve the needs of the community.
According to Joseph Greco, one of the partners at I.D.A. Drug Marts, they started to expand their services in 2019 in order to support the local healthcare system. “We wanted to take the pressure off of the hospital emergency room,” he explains. “We can help people with their less urgent health concerns so the hospital is freed up to deal with more serious ailments. Our goal is to not only help our community, but it is also to support our fellow healthcare workers. COVID really magnified the demand and our healthcare partners really need our help.”
Services Include Telemedicine, Injections, and More
The services offered at I.D.A. Drug Marts are innovative and incredibly accessible. Each walk-in- clinic staffs in-person nurses who are able to administer injections and immunizations as well as take samples when needed.
For visits that require a doctor, the exam rooms feature telemedicine video conferencing technology that connects patients with doctors. The doctors at I.D.A. Drug Mart’s walk-in clinics treat a variety of issues and can write prescriptions, send in requisitions for bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasounds, and refer patients to specialists, including mental health referrals.
The Queenstown I.D.A. Drug Mart also has sexual healthcare providers on staff for people who need specialized tests or treatments.
Modern House Calls
The telemedicine appointments that are available in the I.D.A. Drug Mart walk-in clinics are also available in patients’ own homes.
Joseph explains, “If you can’t make it to the clinic because you’re sick and you don’t want to leave the house, you can call any one of our pharmacies. They will put you in touch with the clinic and a doctor will call you at home.”
“We also provide free delivery of your prescription so you don’t have to leave the house when you’re sick. We can get everything to you right from one of our four locations,” he continues.
For over 65 years, I.D.A. Drug Marts has been family owned and operated and they are still committed to providing great healthcare for the community. To find out more about what they have to offer, call one of their pharmacies or visit them online:
