Sault Ste. Marie is gearing up for an exciting weekend of mountain bike action on June 28 and 29 with the Skeeter Slam Ontario Cup #4, at Hiawatha Highlands.
Cindy Pruce from the Sault Cycling Club commented, “The Skeeter Slam OCup #4 Mountain Bike Race Series isn’t just for elite racers—it’s an opportunity for riders of all skill levels to experience the excitement of Ontario Cup racing. We are really excited to be hosting it here in Sault Ste. Marie!”
The Skeeter Slam offers races for novice riders U11, all the way up to senior, elite and expert riders, throughout the weekend. Events begin the evenings of June 26 and 27 with a course pre-ride, and then two full days of racing commences. Saturday at 5 p.m. there is a pump track event open for all ages, with no registration required.
“With race categories for all ages and skill levels, from youth riders to elite competitors, this event promises an unforgettable weekend of competition and community,” assured Pruce. “Spectators can enjoy live race action, local food vendors, and a vibrant festival atmosphere, making it a must-attend event for cycling enthusiasts and outdoor adventurers alike.”
There are courses for all ages and abilities, including a marathon course, taking full advantage of Hiawatha Highland’s challenging, fast-flowing trails, scenic forested routes, and thrilling descents.
