As Northern Ontario continues to dominate the Ontario snowmobile scene with consistent snow, low temperatures, high quality grooming and trail-side hospitality, there are efforts underway to make it even better.
The World’s Best Snowmobile Destination project, which is designed by Destination Northern Ontario, began in 2015 as a collaborative way to firmly cement Northeastern Ontario as a leading snowmobile destination.
Destination Northern Ontario and its funding partners recognized snowmobiling as a core winter tourism product and are supporting snowmobile product development, refinement, and marketing for the next three years. The ultimate goal of the World’s Best Snowmobile Destination is to create the highest quality, most memorable snowmobile experience possible for visitors.
Ride the North
Ride the North is the branding behind the development work of the World’s Best Snowmobile Destination, and it is on its way to delivering unbeatable ride experiences for visiting snowmobilers.
In recent years, the initiative has gained momentum and is making considerable headway for the future of recreational snowmobiling in Ontario. The result will be a world-class sledding experience throughout the entire winter season.
The future for the World's Best Snowmobile Destination in Northern Ontario looks promising. Snowmobiling is a beloved winter activity, and as long as the destination continues to provide excellent trails, services, and facilities, it's likely to remain a popular destination for snowmobilers.
The World’s Best Snowmobile Destination committee is taking the appropriate next steps to determine which loop and/or network of trails in Districts 14 and 15 to certify them as World’s Best and work with the community partners to ensure that the best possible experience for a rider is offered.
An Important Piece of Northern Ontario Tourism
The snowmobile industry is an important economic driver for many communities in Northern Ontario. Snowmobiling brings in tourism revenue through the sales of snowmobile rentals, trail passes, and other related services.
Additionally, many local businesses, such as hotels, restaurants, and gas stations, rely on the snowmobiling season to drive sales. It is a region (when mother nature cooperates) where trails can open as early as the middle of December and close two weeks into April in some areas. Being known as the World's Best Snowmobile Destination could attract even more tourists to the region, providing a boost to the local economy.
In Northern Ontario, you will find the perfect piece of land to satisfy all your snowmobiling needs, with over 30,000 km of groomed Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) Prescribed Snowmobile Trails. From snowmobile drivers, to hotels, restaurants, and businesses, you don't have to travel far to have the experience of a lifetime. Northern Ontario is the ideal location for your winter sledding vacation.
