Crime Stoppers today released video from a carjacking incident that was reported in the early morning hours of January 1.

The suspect is described as being in his early 20s. He had blonde hair and was about six feet tall and estimated to be 180 pounds.

He can be seen in the video wearing a white long-sleeved shirt and jeans.

The young female driver, who spoke to SooToday earlier this month, described the incident as terrifying.

She was driving home between 12:30-1 a.m. following a New Year’s Eve outing when a strange man jumped out in front of her car on Wellington Street East.

He began demanding a ride and climbed on the car before coming around to the passenger side and forcing his way into the vehicle.

“I thought my doors were locked,” said the woman, who asked not to be identified.

She said he grabbed her hair.

“He started getting really mad and giving me directions where to drive him,” said the woman. “There were no cars around, otherwise I’d have gotten out,” she said.

Eventually, the man had her stop the car and she escaped unharmed and flagged down a passing motorist.

She said her dash cam recorded the incident and she turned the footage over to police.

Police say the suspect exited the vehicle on Maple Street and was last seen running north on Wilcox Avenue.
