A large crowd showed up for a bowl of soup and to discuss ideas on how to change the Downtown area as part of the first ever, Soup Ste. Marie event.
This exciting crowd funding initiative is a public dinner designed to use community-driven financial support to democratically fund projects led by individual, businesses and community groups.
Participants paid $10 for a bowl of soup , that money was then collected at the end of the night and awarded the winner pitch funding for their projects.
In all seven pitches were made to the group, the group then voted on the idea that should be awarded the funding money.
The theme for the first ever Soup Ste. Marie event was how to change the downtown. The event was held at 180 Projects, 180 Gore St.
Teddy Syrette ended up winning the loot of about $1,000 for his idea of re-organizing the gay / lesbian and transgender group in the Sault.
