VIDEO: A newbie sets off fireworks

With the holiday long weekend quickly approaching, people on both sides of the border are stocking up on fireworks for their celebrations. Watch below to ensure you are brushed up on your firework safety tips.

There are many things to consider before lighting the fuse on a cake or mine, including weather conditions, a good firing base and proximity to a pail of water. In anticipation of the upcoming holiday weekend, SooToday's Jasmyn Rowley stopped by the fire hall, and then grabbed some fireworks to set off from Phatboy Fireworks, to learn about proper firework safety precautions.
