OTTAWA - A large donation from a local cannabis manufacturer will help grow a different kind of green across the province.
Canopy Growth announced Friday in Kemptville that it would donate $100,000 to see more trees planted in Ontario.
CEO Mark Zekulin said he's pleased to be making the gift to Forests Ontario after its 50-million Tree Program lost provincial funding in the government's 2019 budget.
"Here's to future growth, Forests Ontario," he exclaimed. "May you hit your target of 50-million trees and keep growing."
Forests Ontario CEO Rob Keen says planting more trees benefits people and the environment.
"Companies, and certainly countries, are looking at planting millions and millions of trees over the next few years, all in the fight against climate change."
