On Thursday, Sault Police officers charged a 51-year-old man with luring a person under 18 years of age using telecommunication.
“On Feb. 25, detectives received a report of the accused having a sexual relationship with an under-aged victim.
“An investigation revealed the accused had communicated with a 16-year-old victim by way of a messaging app for the purpose of facilitating a sexual relationship, despite knowing their age,” police said in a news release.
On Thursday, detectives arrested the accused.
Hal Clayton is charged with luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication. He was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the accusations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
