A 24-year-old is charged with drug trafficking after Sault Police pulled over a vehicle on Albert Street East and discovered 97 baggies of cocaine.
During the traffic stop, which occurred at around 4:30 p.m., police say they recognized the driver as having a suspended licence. They also saw drug paraphernalia inside the vehicle.
"A subsequent search found the accused to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana, $230 in Canadian currency and approximately 109 grams of suspected cocaine separated into 97 bags," says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
Nathan Pregent-Daoust is charged with:
- Possession of Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
- Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000
The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on April 22.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Pregent-Daoust is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
