Sault Police say they arrested a 29-year-old man twice within a 10-hour span on Wednesday.

The first 911 call came in around 12:50 p.m., reporting that someone had pushed a security guard on Great Northern Road after being confronted about unpaid items.

The suspect was arrested, charged with assault and released on an undertaking, with a next scheduled court date of July 29.

Later that same night, at around 10:20 p.m., another 911 call sent officers to a different address on Great Northern Road.

“Although the accused had left prior to officers’ arrival, an investigation revealed they had intentionally scratched two vehicles in the parking lot after being asked to leave the business for causing a disturbance,” says a news release issued today by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.

The suspect was located in the 200 block of McNabb Street and arrested again.

This time, Daniel Niimki-Matinet was charged with mischief under $5,000.

He was released on another undertaking with the same court date as his earlier charge: July 29.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and Niimki-Matinet is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
