Sault Ste. Marie Police say running a red light has led to impaired driving charges against one person.
Officers say when they pulled the driver over at around 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, the vehicle stopped on the wrong side of Albert Street.
“Upon speaking with the driver, officers developed grounds to believe their ability to operate a motor vehicle was impaired by alcohol,” police said in a news release.
"The accused provided multiple breath samples into an approved screening device and all registered above the legal limit.”
Georgie Elenjickal, 31, is charged with:
- Operation While Impaired – Drug and/or Alcohol
- Operation While Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration (80+)
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Elenjickal is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
