An Echo Bay man is facing impaired driving charges after Sault Police say they found a person asleep behind the wheel of a running vehicle in a parking lot.
On Oct. 9 at around 7 p.m., someone phoned 911 to report an erratic driver in the parking lot of a business in the 0-100 block of Great Northern Road.
When police arrived, they say they found a driver asleep with the vehicle running.
After waking up the driver, police say they developed grounds to believe he was impaired.
The man refused multiple requests for a breath sample, police say.
Max Goodmurphy, 46, is charged with:
• Operation while Impaired
• Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand
He was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled back in court on Nov. 4, 2024.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and Goodmurphy is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
