Stabbing Incident of Albert Street West At approximately 4:19 am this morning, city police were called to Albert Street West regarding some males fighting outside a residence. On arrival police discovered that three males had been stabbed.

At approximately 4:19 am this morning, city police were called to Albert Street West regarding some males fighting outside a residence. On arrival police discovered that three males had been stabbed. All three were sent to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. One male is currently in custody that was arrested shortly after the incident at a residence on West Street and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Emergency Services Unit, Patrol and Investigation Services are now containing the West Street residence in relation to this incident. Police are asking the public to stay away from these areas as they are continuing their investigation.

Update

The Emergency Services Unit cleared the residence on West Street just after 10:23 am and five more persons were taken into custody. Patrol Services remain at both residences on West Street and Albert Street West for scene security. Investigation Services are continuing to actively investigate the incident. Two of the males reported stabbed were treated and released at hospital. A third male remains for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. An update regarding charges will be given later this afternoon. There are no further details to be released at this time.

Male Arrested for Arson Fire at Value Village

45 year-old Andrew Swan of no fixed address was arrested on the 15th of April at 6:05 pm at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Center and charged with one count of Arson. It is alleged that on the 3rd of April the accused attended at the rear of Value Village at 248 Northern Avenue East and set fire to drop-off items in the drop-off and loading area. Mattresses, furniture and other miscellaneous items were destroyed by the fire and the building also received some damage as a result. The accused is to appear in court on the 16th of April.

Male Arrested for Threatening and Mischief

52 year-old Rene Lamarche of #302-844 Queen Street East was arrested on the 15th of April at 12:05 pm at his residence and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm, one count of mischief and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the evening of the 14th of April the accused attended at the residence of a person known to him, damaged a front door and threatened the resident. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be of good behaviour. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Female Shoplifter Arrested

28 year-old Christina Wesley of #301-844 Queen Street East was arrested on the 15th of April at 6:07 pm at Sears in the Station Mall and charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime and one count of enter premises when entry prohibited under the Trespass to Property Act. It is alleged that on the 15th of April at approximately 5:49 pm the accused was apprehended by Station Mall Security for trespassing at the store and at the time she was found in possession of stolen items from Sears. Police were called and the accused was arrested. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Male Arrested for Threatening Security Officer

62 year-old Anthony Deluco of 144 Caddy Avenue was arrested on the 15th of April at 1:50 pm at the police station and charged with one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 31st of March the accused called a local Security Agency and made threats towards a security officer that had issued him a parking ticket at the Queen Street Centre parking lot. He is to appear in court on the 17th of May.
