Tancred St Incident Earlier this morning, at approx. 2:00 am, city police received a complaint from a motorist that her vehicle was stopped by a group of people on Tancred St.

Earlier this morning, at approx. 2:00 am, city police received a complaint from a motorist that her vehicle was stopped by a group of people on Tancred St. Complainant went on to state that a member(s) of the group was carrying a firearm, possible a rifle or shotgun. The complainant left the area and the group went into a residence on Tancred St.

Arriving officers attempted to communicate with the tenants of the building but they were unsuccessful. As a precaution and for public safety, the area surrounding 186 Tancred St. was closed off to pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

At approx. 9:00 am this morning the house was deemed safe and secured by police.
Officers are still at the scene awaiting a warrant to search the house for weapons.

The investigation is still on going.


Man charged with assault to appear in bail court:

Last night at approx. 10:00 pm city police were called to a downtown address regarding an assault. As a result of their investigation officers arrested a 27-year-old male and charged him with two counts of assault. It is alleged that the accused assaulted his common-law girlfriend and then assaulted another female that attempted to stop the assault. The victims did not require medical attention.

Male arrested for mischief:

At approx. 2: 40 pm yesterday afternoon city police arrested 20-year-old Shawn Currie and charged him with one count of mischief. It is alleged that during the early morning hours of Aug 20th the police had to be called to the accused person residence several times for noise complaints. The accused was originally charged with noise by-law infractions. Due to the repeated number of noise complaints the accused was charged with mischief by
“Interrupting or interfering with any person’s enjoyment of their property”. Shawn Currie, age 20, of 35 Manilla Terr is charged with one count of mischief. He will be appearing in court on Sept. 28th.

Property Crimes:

Break and enters:


A shed in the 400 block of Connaught Ave was entered- a large quantity of tools was taken.
A residence in the 100 block of Francis St. was entered – electronics were taken.
Antiques were stolen from a residence in the 500 block of Albert St. W.
Break and enters were also reported to residences in the 100 block of Adrian Dr. and the 400 block of
Albert St. E. –it is unknown what was taken.

Mischief:

A vehicle was damaged in the 100 block of Albion St.

Thefts:

Vehicles were entered in the following locations:
The 200 block of Pointe Louise Dr. – electronics were taken.
The 100 block of Westgate Dr. – personal items were stolen.

The following streets will be closed to traffic:
West bound traffic on Wellington St.E. from Dennis St. to Gore St.
Tancred St from Queen St. E. to London St. both north and south bound traffic.
Hughes St. north and south bound traffic.
