Yesterday afternoon the Joint Forces Drug Unit which consists of members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service, the Ontario Provincial Police Drug Enforcement Section, the RCMP and the OPP North East Region executed a warrant at 36 Hardwood Street. During the warrant officers located various drugs including 51 grams of cocaine, 10 marihuana plants, 35 grams of cannabis marihuana, and 70 morphine tablets. Officers also located numerous plant growing equipment. The estimated street value for the drugs seized at the residence is $15775.00. Arrested is 41-year-old Richard Anthony Barton of that address. He has been charged with 1count of Production of a Controlled Drug or Substance, 2 counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking in a Controlled Drug or Substance and 4 counts of Possession of a Controlled Drug or Substance. The accused will appear in court of the 27th of March 2006.

Stolen Vehicle Hits Snow Bank

Early this morning City Police arrested 18-year-old Adam Dolson Black of 874 Queen Street East on Shannon Road. Just after 2:30 this morning Police received a call of a vehicle smashed into a snow bank on Cambridge Place. Police received information that this was a stolen vehicle. The vehicle a 1990 Chrysler white in color was observed on Shannon Road where it was eventually stopped. Adam Black has been charged with 1 count of Possession of Stolen Property, 1 count of Possession of House Breaking Tools and 1 count of Breach of Release Document. The accused will appear in court today.

Break And Enter At JBC Variety Store

Just after 3am this morning City Police responded to an alarm at the JBC variety store at the corner of Gore Street and Albert Street. Upon arrival Police observed 1 male running southbound on Gore Street and arrested this male. The other male who was observed wearing a black hooded type sweatshirt was observed running Eastbound. Arrested was 18-year-old Robert Parent of no fixed address. The accused has been charged with 1 count of Break and Enter with Intent to Commit a Criminal Offence, 1 count of Possession of Housebreaking tools and 1 count of Breach of Probation Order. The accused will appear in court today.
