LOTS OF CHARGES:

37-year-old Sean McLarty of 41 Wilcox Avenue will appear in court on July 5th on a number of offences. McLarty is charged with mischief, threatening death, assault with a weapon and driving while prohibited. It is alleged McLarty got into a verbal argument with another male in the City’s west end. When the victim didn’t exit his vehicle, the accused struck the victim’s vehicle with a hatchet causing approximately $800 in damage. It is alleged that Mr. McLarty threatened the victim is he called the police. The accused and the victim are known to each other.

BAIL COURT THIS MORNING

34-year-old Winston Causley will appear in bail court today. Mr. Causley was already in custody on other matters at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre, when City Police executed an arrest warrant on the accused. It is alleged the accused breached his terms of probation on 3 occasions.

DOWNTOWN DRUNK

Richard Levesque, age 27, of no fixed address, was arrested yesterday for causing a disturbance by being drunk in the downtown area yesterday. The accused was also on a probation order with a condition not to consume alcohol. He was subsequently charged with breaching his probation and will appear in court on July 5th.

DOWNTOWN ASSAULT

34-year-old Laura Starzinski of no fixed address will appear in court July 5th after she was charged with assault and threatening another female in the downtown area yesterday. It is alleged the accused grabbed the victim’s arm and threatened to kill her.

SCHOOL YARD STUFF

A young person is charged with 2 counts of assault after two students at local elementary school were assaulted. It is alleged the accused put the first victim in a headlock then punched the victim a number of times in the head. The second victim was sucker punched in the face area. Both victims received minor injuries.

YOUNG OFFENDER ARRESTED

City Police arrested a young person yesterday on an outstanding arrest warrant. The youth was wanted on one count of threatening death and also breaching an undertaking by communicating with the victim. The accused was already on conditions not to communicate with the victim. The incident occurred on May 22nd. The young person will appear in court on July 6th.

SCHOOL BUS ACCIDENT

City Police had 2 accidents with injuries yesterday. At 7:44 am a school bus carrying 5 children collided with a vehicle on Wallace Terrace near Farwell Terrace. A passenger in the vehicle, Eleanor Lemay of 775 Third Line West was taken to the hospital by ambulance with minor injuries. None of the students were injured. The bus driver, Mary-Ann McCauley of 32 Ferris Avenue was charged with Follow to Close.

BIKE BUMP

At 10:38 am Brennan Cumming of 107 Old Goulais Bay Rd was taken by ambulance to the hospital after he was struck while riding his bicycle. Cumming’s was traveling southbound on Great Northern Rd in the area of the Cambrian Mall when Anthony Armour of 438 Wallace Terrace turned in front of the cyclist. Armour’s vehicle received light damage and the bicycle received moderate damage. Armour has been charged with failing to afford reasonable opportunity to avoid a collision when making a left turn.

City Police are also reminding homeowners to secure their sheds and garages at night. There have been a number of thefts reported where the storage areas have been left insecure.
