On the 29th of May, 2014, city police attended at Walmart at 293 Bay Street for a complaint of a shoplifter. It is alleged that 46-year-old Brent Boland stole coffee and spices with an estimated value of $20. The accused was apprehended by store security and turned over to police. The accused has been charged with theft under $5000 and will appear in court on June 30, 2014.
On the 29th of May, 2014, city police received an assault complaint. It is alleged that 28-year-old Ryan Chiblow of West Street, Blind River assaulted a male Corrections Officer at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Center by throwing a cup of liquid which hit the victim. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The accused has been charged with assault and will appear in bail court on May 30, 2014.
On the 29th of May, 2014, city police arrested a 15-year-old female and 17-year-old male for mischief. It is alleged they caused damage to the door of a residence of persons known to them. They will both be appearing in court on July 8, 2014. Damage to the door is valued at $400.
