Male Charged with Assaulting Fellow Inmate Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 38 year-old Corey Hynes at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and arrested him with one count of assault.
Male Charged with Assaulting Fellow Inmate
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 38 year-old Corey Hynes at the Algoma Remand and Treatment Centre and arrested him with one count of assault. It is alleged that on the 25th of November at approximately 11:45 am the accused, while in custody at the Centre, assaulted a fellow inmate by punching and shoving him. No injuries were reported. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Two Domestic Related Arrests
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 36 year-old male at his residence at 1:48 am this morning and charged with one count of assault causing bodily harm, one count of sexual assault, and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 24th of November the accused called and left a message on his ex-common law partner’s cell phone that he was going to beat her up. Officers investigating the incident also learned that on August 21st 2010, the accused assaulted the same victim while at their residence that resulted in the victim receiving serious injuries requiring medical attention and on December 31st 2009, the accused assaulted and sexually assaulted the victim. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 54 year-old male at 2:22 pm yesterday at his residence and charged him with one count of assault and one count of threatening death. It is alleged that on the 25th of November around 2 pm the accused got into a verbal argument with his common-law spouse, assaulted her by punching and kicking her several times and also threatened to kill her. The victim received non-life threatening injuries that did not require medical attention. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Youth Arrested on Outstanding Warrant
A 17 year-old male youth was arrested yesterday morning by officers at the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service on outstanding warrants and charged with one count of fail to appear for prints, one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a release order. He is to attend in bail court this morning.

Arson Investigation
On the 25th of November at 9:36 am officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police and Fire Services attended at a residence in the 100 block of Albert Street East regarding a suspicious fire. Officers investigating the incident discovered that a one gallon gas can had been set on fire by an unknown person and thrown at the residence window. The gas can did not go through the window, but landed on the ground area just outside the home. The fire was extinguished and no injuries were reported. No suspects were observed in the area. The investigation is ongoing by police.
