Weapon and Drug Charges Yesterday afternoon, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Street Team and the Canine Unit executed a controlled drug and substances warrant at 3 Campbell Avenue.
Weapon and Drug Charges
Yesterday afternoon, members of the Sault Ste. Marie Police Street Team and the Canine Unit executed a controlled drug and substances warrant at 3 Campbell Avenue. Located in the search was a two stage hydroponic marihuana growing operation with 11 plants along with 638 grams of cultivated marihuana buds. Officers also located isopropyl alcohol and 1210 grams of marijuana shake that were being used to make cannabis hash oil, along with 100 grams of produced cannabis hash oil. The total street value of drugs seized is $26,365. Further located in the search was a butterfly knife which is a prohibited weapon due to the fact it opens with centrifugal force and a .22 caliber rifle that was insecurely stored in the residence. As a result the two persons residing at 3 Campbell Avenue, 33 year-old Christopher Derasp and 33 year-old Lisa Marie Nichols were both charged with two counts of production of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of possession of a controlled drug or substance, one count of possession of a prohibited weapon, and one count of careless storage of a firearm. Derasp is to appear in bail court this morning and Nichols is to attend in court on the 22nd of November.

Impaired Driver Arrested
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 20 year-old Michael Turmaine of 414 Pineshore Drive at 2:58 am this morning on Second Line West and charged with him with one count of impaired driving and one count of consume over the legal limit. It is alleged that at approximately 2:41 am this morning, officers received a call regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Second Line West and Goulais Avenue. Officers located the vehicle parked on the side of the road on Second Line just west of Goulais Avenue with the driver inside, and at the time he was found to be under the influence of alcohol.

Domestic Related Arrests
A 17 year-old male was arrested by officers from the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service at 6:45 pm last evening at his residence and charge him with one count of assault and one count of threaten death or bodily harm. It is alleged that on the 14th of October around 5:30 pm the accused assaulted and threatened to kill his girlfriend. The victim received non-life threatening injuries as a result. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

A 36 year-old male was arrested at his residence yesterday afternoon by officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service and charged with one count of breach of a release order. It is alleged that on the 14th of October the accused called his ex-girlfriend numerous times and harassed her. At the time he was on conditions that he not communicate with her. He is to attend in bail court this morning.

Break and Enters
• A residence on Wallace Terrace was entered last night at 8:14 pm. A purse was reported stolen.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence in the 100 block of Crawford Avenue.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence in the 100 block of Wallace Terrace.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence in the 300 block of Gillies Street.
• A residence in the 100 block of Market Street was broken into sometime over the past week. A television was reported stolen.
• A room at a local east end hotel was entered and a television was reported stolen.
