Last night members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 43-year-old male on a charge of mischief. It is alleged that the accused male attended at the residence of his former partner and damaged a window at that location. The accused is charged with one count of mischief.

Early this morning members of the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 33-year-old male for break and enter, sexual assault, mischief, criminal harassment and several breaches. It is alleged that at approximately 4:30 this morning the accused male attended at the address of his former girlfriend, broke into the residence and then sexually assaulted the victim. It is further alleged that the accused has been harassing the victim since early September 2010. At the time of these offences the accused was on a recognizance release order with conditions that he not communicate, harass or attended at the victim’s address, and that he abide by an 11 pm to 6 am curfew. The victim suffered minor injuries but did not require medical attention. The accused is charged with one count of break and enter, one count of sexual assault, one count of mischief, one count of criminal harassment and four counts of breach of a recognizance.

Break and enter
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service received two complaints of break and enters overnight.
A residence in the 300 block of Bloor St. W. was entered. A chain saw and miscellaneous other items were taken.
A residence in the 900 block of wellington St. E. was entered. Jewellery was reported stolen.

Mischief
A vehicle parked in the 1300 block of Third Line W. was damaged.
An election sign was set on fire in the 200 block of Fifth Line E.

Theft
An orange and white bike was stolen from the 1000 block of Wellington St. E.
A canoe was stolen from the 1000 block of Peoples Rd.
Electronics were stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Maki Rd.
Two vehicles were reported entered in the 100 block of Mt Pleasant Crt. Cash and a pair of binoculars were reported taken.
