One person is facing charges after a theft from a Sault Ste. Marie home.
Sault Ste. Marie Police say it happened Sunday, April 14 on Salisbury Avenue.
“Investigation revealed the accused had taken a variety of items from someone known to them with a total value of approximately $10,000,” said police in a news release.
“The accused was given an opportunity to return the stolen items but did not. A warrant was obtained for their arrest.”
On Thursday, police were called back to Salisbury Avenue to investigate a report of a suspicious person, where they arrested the suspect.
Emmanuel De Melo, 61, has been charged with theft over $5,000.
None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
