A 34-year-old faces multiple firearm charges stemming from an incident that took place on Saturday.
In a news release, Sault Ste. Marie Police say they responded to a call at around 6 p.m. on April 5 about a weapon at a multi-unit residence building in the 500 block of Albert Street West.
Police say they learned the accused had thrown food items all over a victim’s door and then shot at them in the hallway with a BB gun. The victim and accused are known to one another. No physical injuries were reported.
Officers then found and arrested the accused. A search warrant at the accused's residence revealed a pistol-style BB gun and loaded revolver-style BB/pellet gun.
As a result, Anthony Iachetta faces the following charges:
- Careless Use of Firearm, Weapon, Prohibited Device, or Ammunition
- Failure to Comply with Probation Order
- Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Mischief – Under $5,000
- Pointing a Firearm
- Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
None of the accusations have been tested in court and Iachetta is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
