A 34-year-old faces multiple firearm charges stemming from an incident that took place on Saturday.

In a news release, Sault Ste. Marie Police say they responded to a call at around 6 p.m. on April 5 about a weapon at a multi-unit residence building in the 500 block of Albert Street West.

Police say they learned the accused had thrown food items all over a victim’s door and then shot at them in the hallway with a BB gun. The victim and accused are known to one another. No physical injuries were reported.

Officers then found and arrested the accused. A search warrant at the accused's residence revealed a pistol-style BB gun and loaded revolver-style BB/pellet gun.

As a result, Anthony Iachetta faces the following charges:

  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order
  • Knowledge of Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
  • Mischief – Under $5,000
  • Pointing a Firearm
  • Possession of Firearm or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
  • Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
  • Unauthorized Possession of Firearm

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.

None of the accusations have been tested in court and Iachetta is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
