School Secretary Charges On Friday April 8th the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Fraud Office charged 52-year-old Denise Wilton, of 621 MacDonald Ave., with Fraud and Theft Over $ 5,000.00.
School Secretary Charges

On Friday April 8th the Sault Ste Marie Police Service Fraud Office charged 52-year-old Denise Wilton, of 621 MacDonald Ave., with Fraud and Theft Over $ 5,000.00. It is alleged that the accused, while employed by the Algoma District School Board- as a secretary at White Pines Collegiate, misappropriated school fundraising proceeds and did steal money in excess of $ 5,000.00 from the school. The fraud and theft took place between 01 September 2001 and 01March 2004. The loss by the school is estimated to be approx. $ 50,054.00. The money taken and diverted by the accused was in relation to the White Pines Yearbook proceeds. The Algoma District School Board no longer employs the accused. None of the money has been recovered. The accused will be appearing in court on Monday May 16th at 9:00 AM.

Male Charged with Assault with a Weapon

On Friday April 8th at approx. 11:30 PM City Police were called to the Studio Ten, at 89 Hudson St. in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival the officers were informed that a male person, recently evicted was now carrying knives and make threats to one of the employees. Police located a male person and found him to be carrying three knives. Charged with Assault, Assault With A Weapon and Possession of a Controlled Substance (Hash Oil), is 27 year old Terrance Arthur Mingo of 454 Parliament St. He will be appearing in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Couple Charged with Assault

At approx. 11:30 PM on Saturday April 9th City Police were called to attend an address in the 400 block of Cathcart St. Upon arrival officers discovered that a common-law couple had been involved in a domestic fight. Both persons had been assaulted and had assaulted one another. As a result both parties were arrested. The 41-year-old male was charged with Assault and the 41-year-old female was charged with Assault and two counts of Breach of Probation. They will both be in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.

Woman Assaulted

On Saturday April 9th at approx. 2:00 AM City Police were called to attend at an address in the 100 block of Broadview Dr. in regards to an assault. At the address the victim informed the officers that a person, known to her had assaulted her. Her injuries consisted of a fractured orbital bone, a black eye, cuts and scratches to her face and head. At approx. 2:30 AM City Police stopped a vehicle in a parking lot on Great Northern Rd. Upon investigating the driver it was discovered that he was intoxicated by alcohol. As a result he was arrested for Impaired Driving. While at the police station it was learned that the accused, Jody Lynn Gibson, age 32, of 171 B Willow Ave. Apt. # 9 was the person responsible for the assault. As a result he is charged with: Impaired Driving, Drive Over .08 mgs, two counts of Breach of Recognizance and Aggravated Assault. He will be attending Bail court today at 10:00 AM. The victim was taken to hospital and treated for her injuries.

Breach of Probation

Another domestic dispute result in the arrest of a 23-year-old male. Police were called to an address in the 100 block of Henrietta St. regarding a female being assaulted. Upon arrival the officers arrested the male and charged him with Assault and two counts of Breach of Probation. It is alleged that the accused choked and pushed the victim. The victim did not require medical attention for her injuries. The accused will be in Bail Court today at 10:00 AM.
