Five persons to appear in bail court On Friday February 4th at approximately 11:20 am members of Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 17-year-old female for escape custody.
Five persons to appear in bail court
On Friday February 4th at approximately 11:20 am members of Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 17-year-old female for escape custody. It is alleged that on Thursday February 3rd the accused left a youth detention facility without permission. It is further alleged that at the time of this offence the accused was on a probation order release. The accused is charged with one count of escape lawful custody and one count of breach of probation.

On Saturday February 5th at approximately 3:00 am members of Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested an
18-year-old female on charges of assault and breach of probation. It is alleged that the accused assaulted her common-law boyfriend by punching and scratching him. It is further alleged that at the time of this offence the accused was on a probation order release. The accused is charged with one count of assault and two counts of breach of probation. The victim did not require medical attention.

On Saturday February 5th members of Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 21-year-old male on assault, mischief and threatening charges. It is alleged that on February 3rd, the accused assaulted his common-law-girlfriend, by pushing her, and damaged the front door to her residence. It is further alleged that on February 5th the accused again attended at the victim’s residence where he assaulted her, by throwing her to the ground, threatened to kill her and damaged her phone. Police were called and the accused was arrested. Victim suffered minor injuries and did not require medical attention. The accused is charged with two counts of assault, two counts of mischief and one count of threatening death.

On Sunday February 6th at 7:30 pm members of Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 20-year-male for theft, breach of a recognizance and breach of probation. It is alleged that at approximately 6:30 pm the accused stole a taxi cab from an address on North St. At approximately 7:30 pm the accused was seen fleeing from the stolen vehicle on Vivian St. and apprehended. It is further alleged that at the time of this offence the accused breached conditions of both his recognizance and probation order releases. Cheyenne Manitouwabi, age 20, of 94 Andrew Cres, Wikwemikong, Ontario is charged with one count of theft over $ 5,000, one count of breach of probation and one count of breach of a recognizance.

Early this morning members of Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 17-year-old male on assault charges. It is alleged that on Sunday February 6th the accused assaulted a male, known to him, by punching him and knocking him to the ground. It is further alleged that the accused then pulled a knife on the victim and started to stab at the victim. The victim wrestled the knife away and from the accused and broke it. Police were called and the accused was arrested. The victim attended at the Sault Area Hospital where he was treated for his injuries. The accused is charged with one count of assault with a weapon, one count of weapon dangerous to the public, three counts of assault and one count of breach of probation.

Male arrested for impaired driving
This morning at 1:20 am members of Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested a 27-year-old male for drive over 80mgs. It is alleged that the accused was operating a motor vehicle north on great Northern Rd at Malabar Dr. when he lost control and struck a pole. Police attended at and noted that the accused person was under the influence of alcohol. The accused was arrested and charged with one count of drive over 80mgs.

Matthew Baergen, of 40 York St., Kingston Ontario is charged with one count of drive over 80mgs. He is to appear in court on March 21st at 9:00 am.

Break and enter
The Sault Ste Marie Police Service investigated two reported break and enters over the weekend. A business in the 2600 block of Second Line W. was entered. It is unknown at this time what was taken. A residence in the 100 block of Gladstone Ave was entered – personal items were stolen.

Mischief
A garage in the 100 block of Anna St was reported damaged.

A door at a home in the 600 block of Albert St. W. was damaged.

A window at a house in the 200 block of John St. was broken.

Several vehicles parked at a business in the 200 block of Industrial Park Cr. were damaged.

A mailbox was damaged in the 400 block of Moss Rd.

Theft
A snow blower was stolen from a residence in the 100 block of Cathcart St.

A purse was stolen from a vehicle in the 100 block of Great Northern Rd.

A wallet and electronics items were stolen from a vehicle in the 400 block of Morin St.
