Male Arrested for Mischief and Theft from Vehicles
Officers with the O.P.P. and the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 22 year-old Troy Bozowskyi of #-814 Wellington Street East at 9:47 pm last night on Gore Street and charged him with two counts of mischief under $5,000, two counts of theft under $5,000, one count of resist peace officer and one count of breach of probation.

It is alleged that at 9:45 pm last night O.P.P. officers from the Sault Casino notified the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service that they had a male in custody on Gore Street that they had under arrest for theft from a vehicle in the Casino parking lot. The accused and a female suspect smashed the window of a vehicle that was parked in the Casino lot and stole a wallet from it. The two fled on foot when confronted by the O.P.P. The accused was apprehended on Gore Street and resisted the O.P.P. officer by continuously struggling to get away.

The Sault Ste. Marie Police Service took the male into custody and when continuing their investigation, they discovered that the accused had broken into another vehicle that was parked in a downtown restaurant parking lot. A small amount of cash had been stolen from that vehicle. At the time of the incidents the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be good. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning. Officers are attempting to locate the female suspect, who is known to them.

Male Charged with Assault and Resisting Police
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested 37 yer-old Adrien Dupuis of #1 front- 145 Pim Street on the 27th of November at 4:15 am on Pim Street and charged him with one count of mischief, one count of assault peace officer, one count of resist peace officer and one count of intoxicated in a public place. It is alleged that on the 27th of November at approximately 4:02 am police attended at a residence on Pim Street to remove the accused who was in an intoxicated condition and causing a disturbance. When dealing with the accused, he became belligerent with officers, swearing and yelling at them.

Officers arrested the accused and the time the accused resisted and fought with them. When the accused was being placed in the cells at the police station, he spit at one of the officers and also plugged the toilet with the cell blanket. The accused is to appear in bail court this morning.

Two Domestic Related Arrests for Bail Court This Morning
Officers with the Sault Ste Marie Police Service arrested two males over the weekend in relation to domestic related assaults. The first was a 24 year-old male wanted on domestic related warrants. He was arrested on the 26th of November and charged with six counts of assaults and four counts of threaten death or bodily harm in relation to domestic incidents that occurred over a one year period in 2007 involving his ex-wife.

The second was a 27 year-old male arrested on the 28th of November and charged with one count of assault for allegedly punching his girlfriend while at her residence on the 28th of November.

Male Arrested for Possession of Stolen Jeep and Licence Plates
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 21 year-old Matthew Evans-Moreau of 626 Queen Street West (side apt) last night on Case Road and charged him with two counts of possession of stolen property and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 28th of November at approximately 9 pm officers received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle driving in the compound of King's Salvage, 599 Case Road. Officers attended and located an abandoned stolen Jeep Grand Cherokee with licence plates affixed to it that also came back as stolen. The accused was found a short time later inside the compound and was subsequently arrested by officers. At the time of the incident the accused was on probation to keep the peace and be good. He is to appear in bail court this morning.

Impaired Driver Arrested
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service arrested 48 year-old Denise Richardson of 481 Charles Street on the 28th of November at 7:44 pm on Wellington Street West and charged her with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and one count of fail to remain at scene of accident. It is alleged that on the 27th of November at approximately 7:26 pm, the accused was involved in a vehicle collision on Korah Road near Dover Court, rear-ending another vehicle that had slowed in front of hers. The accused left the scene and police were called shortly afterwards by a citizen had observed the accused driving erratically on Carmen’s Way at Wellington Street West.

The witness stopped their vehicle in front of accused female’s vehicle on Carmen’s Way and called police when discovering the female driver appeared to be impaired. Officers attended and discovered that the accused was under the influence of alcohol and she was subsequently arrested. The two occupants that were in the vehicle that was struck by the vehicle of the accused both received non-life threatening injuries as a result of the collision. Both trucks were moderately damaged. The accused is to appear in court on the 10th of January 2011.

Festive RIDE Program Underway
To kick off the Festive RIDE season, the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service in cooperation with the Ontario Provincial Police teamed up this past weekend setting up checkpoints on several local area roads and highways.

On Friday evening, officers checked 370 vehicles and administered two roadside screening device tests. Both drivers passed. On Saturday evening and into the early morning hours of Sunday, officers checked 339 vehicles. Six drivers were issued roadside tests and all six passed. An additional six motorists were charged with various offences under the Highway Traffic Act.

RIDE programs are conducted throughout the year and during the holiday season motorists can expect to see more of them. Motorists are reminded not to drink and drive. If drinking is going to be involved in your holiday plans, alternate transportation arrangements, such as using a designated driver, taxi cab, or other transportation options should be utilized.

Break and Enter Report
• A residence on St. George’s Avenue East was entered over the weekend. A Toshiba television was reported stolen.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence in the 200 block of McNabb Street.
