Aggravated Assault Charges Laid

34-year old Clifford Neveau of 265 McNabb Street will appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that on the 10th of September the accused assaulted another male by repeatedly kicking him in the head. The assault took place in an east end residence. The victim required medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. The accused has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.

One Count of Threatening

37-year old Albert Morin of no fixed address will also appear in bail court this morning. It is alleged that the accused threatened to harm a female victim known to him. At the time of the offence the accused was on conditions to notify a change of address and failed to do so. The accused has been charged with one count of threatening and one count of breach of a release order.

Impaired Driving Charges

23-year old Thomas Piscopo of 883 Maitland Avenue, Ottawa was arrested on September 10th just before 3 am. A call had been received regarding a possible impaired driver in the area of Pim Street and McNabb Street. Officers stopped the accused and found him to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was on a release document with conditions to keep the peace and be good and to refrain from alcohol. The accused has been charged with one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit and 2 counts of breach of a release order. The accused will appear in bail court this morning.

Break and Enter

On September 10th City Police arrested a 12-year old and a 13-year old youth and charged each with 4 counts of break and enter and commit an offence. Both youths will appear in court on October 11th. The break and enters occurred to the Mac’s Mart at 647 Second Line West; one on September 5th and on 3 separate occasions on the 10th of September. Through the course of their investigation officers learned that a third person was involved. As a result of this information a search warrant was prepared and executed on September 10th at the residence of 33-year old Antonio Paim of 127 Turner Avenue. When officers attended in the residence they found that the accused had attempted to destroy a large quantity of stolen cigarettes from the Mac’s Mart buy burning them in a wood stove. Officers did manage to recover some of the cigarettes. During the search of the residence officers also located 3 firearms, for which the accused had no licence to possess. Mr. Paim has been charged with one count of possession of property obtained by crime, 4 counts of break and enter and commit an offence, and 3 counts of unauthorized possession of firearm. The accused will appear in court on October 17th.

Male Charged with Assault

36-year old Craig Jones of 4-102 Breton Road has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on October 17th. It is alleged that on September 10th the accused attended at a downtown drinking and dining establishment and ended up assaulting an employee of the establishment. It is alleged that when the employee requested that the accused leave the bar and that he was not going to be served any more, the accused lunged at the victim and managed to grab onto the victim’s shirt. Patrons in the establishment pulled the male away, who left. On the 11th of September the accused returned to the bar, police were called and the male was arrested. Mr. Jones has been charged with one count of assault and will appear in court on October 17th. The name of the establishment is not being released to protect the identity of the employee.

Acts Of Mischief

On September 11th City Police took a repot of a break and enter to the office of Northern Transportation at 465 Second Line East. Sometime overnight thieves entered the business and a small undisclosed amount of cash was taken.
City Police received a number of reports over the weekend regarding mischief to several downtown businesses. The following businesses were spray-painted: Head to Toe Salon, Zenone’s, Creations, June and Friends and Art Gabriel’s Mens Wear.
