Male Arrested for Assault and Theft: 18 year-old Michael Gingras of 2820 Mission Road was arrested on the 25th of September charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.00, two counts of assault and one count of breach of probation.
Male Arrested for Assault and Theft:

18 year-old Michael Gingras of 2820 Mission Road was arrested on the 25th of September charged with two counts of theft under $5,000.00, two counts of assault and one count of breach of probation. It is alleged that on the 9th of September the accused attended at the Food Basics Store on Trunk Road and stole some meat items. The accused also pushed an employee of the store that attempted to apprehend him. Further, on the 14th of September it is alleged that the accused took some money from a female known to him and when the victim attempted to get it back the accused assaulted her. At the time of the offence the accused was on probation with conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour.

Females Arrested for Impaired Driving and Theft of Motor Vehicles:

1) 32 year-old Cynthia Assiginack of 138 East Street was arrested on the 26th of September at 6:34 pm on Queen Street East and charged with one count of theft under $5,000, 00, one count of impaired driving, one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of possession of property obtained by crime, one count of theft over $5,000.00 and two count so breach of a release document. It is alleged that on the 26th of September at approximately 6:32 pm the accused stole a 1998 Chev Pickup from a parking lot the Station Mall, drove into the guard rail at Pim Street and then fled on foot. Police quickly located and apprehended her in the area. The accused was found to be under the influence of alcohol. The accused was also wanted on outstanding warrants for breaching release documents.

2) A 17 year-old female was arrested on the 27th of September at 3:40 am on Cathcart Street and charged with one count of consume over the legal limit, one count of theft over $5,000.00 and one count of obstruct peace officer. It is alleged that on the 27th of September at 3:30 am city police observed a Ford Pickup westbound on Wellington Street with no rear lights on and proceed through the red light intersection at Gore Street without stopping. The vehicle was pulled over on Cathcart Street and at the time the female driver appeared to be under the influence of alcohol. She registered a fail on the roadside screening device. At the time of her arrest, the accused falsely identified herself. Officers further discovered that the accused stole the vehicle from a person known to her earlier in the evening.

Male Arrested for Assault and Resisting Police:

31 year-old Marc Fortier was arrested on the 27th of September at 3:30 pm at his residence and charged with one count of assault and one count of resist peace officer. It is alleged that on the 27th of September at 3:00 pm the accused assaulted a male known to him at his residence. The victim received non life-threatening injuries as a result. When the accused was being arrested he resisted the officers.

Male Arrested for Mischief at PUC Sub Station:

77 year-old William Motruk of 280 North Street was arrested on the 26th of September at 10:30 on Cedar Street and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00 and one count of mischief under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 26th of September at 10:30 pm the accused used bolt cutters at the PUC Sub Station located at Cedar and Birch Street to cut a whole in the wire fencing and cut copper bonding wire in attempts to steal it. He is to appear in court on the 2nd of November.

Female Charged with Mischief in Relation to Noise Complaints:

19 year-old Joan Duguay of 6 La Chaumiere Place was arrested on the 25th of September at 1:10 am at her residence and charged with one count of Mischief. It is alleged that on the 25th of September at 12:40 am city police attended at the residence of the accused for a noise complaint. Officers attended and the accused was charged under the noise by-law. Further, Officers warned the accused if they received another noise complaint she would be arrested for mischief. Shortly after leaving, police received another noise disturbance call, returned and arrested her. She is to appear in court on the 26th of October.

Female Shoplifter Arrested:

21 year-old Krista-Lynn Murray of 324 Highway 17 East Garden River was arrested on the 25th of September at 2:19 pm at Wal-Mart and charged with one count of theft under $5,000.00. It is alleged that on the 25th of September at approximately 2:05 pm the accused attended at the Wal-Mart and stole some groceries. She was apprehended by store security and held for police. She is to appear in court on the 2nd of November.

Robbery Investigations:

1) Investigation Services are continuing an investigation into a robbery that took place on the 25th of September at 2:50 pm that occurred at a residence on Pim Street. A lone male entered the home wearing a bandana over his face and carrying what appeared to be a can of pepper spray. The male demanded cash and jewellery from the occupants that were in the residence at the time. The male left the residence with some cash, jewellery, cigarettes and prescription drugs. The spray was not used and no injuries were reported. The male suspect was described as being white, 5’8 to 6 feet tall, slim build, wearing dark pants with a dark hoodie, sunglasses and black leather gloves. Officers searched the area for the suspect with negative results.

2) Investigation Services are currently investigating a robbery that took place on the 25th of September at 11:42 pm at the Blockbuster Video Store on Trunk Road. A lone male entered the store wearing a bandana over his face and demanded cash. The male fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash. There were no injuries or weapons involved. The male was described as being white, approximately 5’8 to 5’10, thin build, short brown hair wearing a brown bandana, a grey hoodie, green cargo pants and leather racing type gloves. Officers searched the area for the suspect with negative results.

Property Crimes Reported from Past Weekend:

Break and Enters:


• A residence on Albert Street East was entered on the 26th of September around 3:50 am. Nothing was reported stolen.
• An attempt break and enter was reported to a residence on Wellington Street East.

Mischief Reports:

• A vehicle on Laurier Place and one on Chartwell Drive were spray painted.
• Riverview Public School reported some spray paint vandalism to a back wall.
• Bus shelters on Peoples Road and Bennett Boulevard were damaged.
• A rock was thrown through a window of a residence on Smale Avenue.
• Vehicles were damaged on Foster Drive, Wellington Street East, Wellington Street West and Goulais Avenue.
• A city bus travelling in the area of Chippewa Street and Goulais Avenue had a window smashed when a beer bottle was thrown through it.
