The Community Directed Enforcement Team conducted a traffic enforcement initiative focused on seatbelt use, distracted driving, and unsafe vehicles in North Bay and area last weekend.
One of the most unusual charges was one driver who was charged twice within 26 minutes for cell phone use while driving.
During the traffic safety initiative, a total of 77 Total Charges & 37 Warnings were issued, including:
- Seatbelt violations
- Cell phone use while driving
- Unsafe vehicles & equipment defects – including a pickup truck with its plates seized due to serious safety concerns
- Speeding & CMV speed limiter offences
- Cannabis Control Act violations
- Suspended drivers
Despite challenging weather, officers maintained strong visibility on Highways 11 & 17.
