A man who provided a fake identity on Feb. 22 had to be arrested again under his real name.

On Feb. 22, officers responding to a report of several individuals asleep inside a running vehicle charged one of the passengers with possession of a schedule I substance.

At the time, the passenger – now identified as 27-year-old Ryan Gagne – provided a false identity to officers, police said in a news release.

"He was arrested under this false identity. On February 27, 2025, the individual whose identity the accused had given to police attended the Police Services Building to report their identity having been fraudulently used to avoid arrest."

A warrant was obtained for the accused’s arrest.

On March 10, officers located and arrested Gagne. In addition to being charged with possession of a schedule I substance on Feb. 22, the accused is also charged with:

  • Obstruct Peace Officer
  • Identity Fraud

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court on May 5.

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
