One person is facing additional charges in relation to a robbery late last month where several thousand dollars worth of merchandise was stolen from a local business.

Sault Ste. Marie Police were called to the 200 block of Bay Street on March 31.

They were told someone used a brick to smash a glass display before stealing over $38,000 in items from the business.

Police now believe an item valued at $3,999 was also stolen in that incident, directly from a staff member.

Michael Rivers was re-arrested at the Algoma Treatment and Remand Centre on Saturday.

The 31-year-old has been charged with:

  • Theft – Under $5,000
  • Failure to Comply with Probation Order x 3

None of the allegations have been tested in court and the accused is considered innocent unless proven guilty.
