A 13-year-old was arrested last night after a stabbing that sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.
At around 10 p.m. on Thursday, someone phoned 911 to report a disturbance on Ferguson Avenue.
When officers arrived, they found a victim suffering from a stab wound. The person was transported to hospital with serious injuries, police say.
“An investigation revealed the accused and the victim, who are known to each other, were arguing when it escalated, and the accused stabbed the victim,” says a news release issued this morning by the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service.
The 13-year-old is charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.
The teen was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Oct. 8.
The identity of the accused cannot be published under provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
