A 37-year-old was arrested Sunday for allegedly hitting a store security guard in the face and hand after being confronted about stolen items.
At around 1:30 p.m. on June 30, Sault Police say a person inside a business in 0-100 block of Great Northern Road “selected items from store shelves and attempted to leave without paying for them.”
When security personnel attempted to stop the suspect, police say he struck the guard in the hand and face.
“Security personnel did detain the accused,” police said in a news release issued today. “The victim sustained minor physical injuries.

Christopher Desjardins is charged with one count of robbery.
He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled back in court on Sept. 9, 2024.
The allegation has not been tested in court and Desjardins is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
