On Saturday December 4, 2010 at 5:52 pm the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service received a call of a collision between a motor vehicle and pedestrian who was crossing Truck Rd. between Churchill Plaza and a pathway leading to Breton Rd. The 43 year old female pedestrian was struck in the curb lane by a westbound vehicle being driven by a 47 year old female. The pedestrian was taken to Sault Area Hospital where last reports indicate that she is in very serious condition.

Trunk Rd. was closed between Lake St. and Wellington St. until 1:30 am while the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service’s Traffic and Forensic units where on the scene investigating the collision. The investigation is continuing and no further details are available at this time.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in this investigation. Anyone with information that could assist in this collision investigation is asked to call city police at 949-6300.

Update:

On Sunday December 5, 2010 the Sault Ste Marie Police Service was advised by the Sault Area Hospital that the 43 female pedestrian had succumbed to her injuries. Release of the deceased name is being held until the next of kin have been notified.

The investigation is continuing and no further details are available at this time.
