A 50-year-old has been charged after an incident on Canal Drive over the weekend.
Around 1:20 p.m. Saturday afternoon, 911 communications received a report of someone being threatened with a hammer in the 0-100 block of Canal Drive.
Officers with the Sault Ste. Marie Police Service responded to the scene and found a suspect. Police say the person was carrying a hammer and was arrested.
Police say an investigation revealed that the accused had threatened the victim with the hammer while telling them to leave the area.
As a result, Christopher Magna is charged with assault with a weapon.
The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing.
The allegation has not been tested in court and Magna is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
