Domestic Related Death Early in the morning hours of April 7th a male and female became involved in a domestic dispute in the City’s east end. It is alleged that the male made threats to harm both himself and the victim.

Early in the morning hours of April 7th a male and female became involved in a domestic dispute in the City’s east end. It is alleged that the male made threats to harm both himself and the victim. During the course of the argument the female was assaulted and rendered unconscious. When the victim woke up the male was no longer in the residence. The female victim attended at the City Police Station just after 5 am and reported the incident. She did not require medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation was started immediately by patrol officers and turned over very shortly to Investigation Services. Officers began looking for the suspect male immediately.

Around 9 am a citizen located a body of a male in the snow machine staging area on lower McNabb Street. A post mortem is scheduled for the morning of April 8th to determine cause of death. Foul play is not suspected. A positive identification has been made on the male, who is the same individual involved in the domestic dispute.

There had been a history of domestic related matters between the victim and the deceased individual, which had the deceased male before the courts, out on bail, pending the court case.

News Release March 22:

A 29-year old male will appear in bail court this morning in relation to a domestic related matter. It is alleged that between the 7th of March and the 12th of March the accused bothered his ex-girlfriend by calling her residence repeatedly, showed up at her place of employment and bothered her, as well as cutting off her car when she was driving and refusing to let her leave the area. The accused was on probation at the time of the incidents with conditions to keep the peace and be good. The accused has been charged with one count of breach of probation and one count of criminal harassment.

Male Charged with Criminal Harassment

A 53-year old male will appear in bail court this morning after City Police received a harassment complaint from the accuser’s ex-wife. It is alleged that between the 27th of March and the 6th of April the accused followed the victim around town on several occasions. As well, it is alleged that the accused assaulted a male friend of the victim’s on the 27th of March by punching the male victim in the face. The accused has been charged with one count of assault and one count of criminal harassment.

Drug Bust

Yesterday afternoon officers from the Joint Forces Drug Unit, members of the Street Team and officers from Patrol executed a search warrant at 21 Trelawne Avenue. Officers seized a variety of narcotics with a street value of over $8500. Seized were 4 mature marihuana plants, 146.5 grams of cannabis marihuana, 2.5 grams of cocaine, 1 gram of cannabis resin, 27 clorazepam tablets and 46 percocet tablets. Officers also seized just over $5,600 of money as offence related property. The following persons have been charged and will appear in bail court this morning:

42-year old Ronald Rennison of 21 Trelawne Avenue. He has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, one count of production of a controlled drug or substance, and one count of breach of a release document, as the accused had failed to notify his change of address.

23-year old Sarah Mergaert of 363 Nixon Road has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, and one count of production of a controlled drug or substance.

48-year old Glen Stevens of 21 Trelawne has been charged with one count of possession of a controlled drug or substance, four counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking in a controlled drug or substance, and one count of production of a controlled drug or substance.

Break and Enter

Just before 1 am City Police arrested 2 males who broke into a residence in the 100 block of Church Street. It is alleged that the 2 males were observed breaking the windows and forcing the door to the residence when a witness called the police. The males were apprehended in the area as they fled the scene. The thieves were unsuccessful in obtaining any property. 26-year old Jason Solomon of 8-131 Pilgrim Street has been charged with one count of break and enter with intent and one count of mischief under $5,000. He will appear in court on May 16th. 25-year old Steven Nicholson of 5-131 Pilgrim Street has been charged with one count of break and enter with intent as well as one count of mischief under $5,000. Mr. Nicholson was on probation order with conditions to keep the peace and be good. He has been charged with one count of breach of probation and he will appear in bail court this morning.

Security Guard Threatened

Just before 8 am yesterday morning it is alleged that 45-year old Ronald Williams of no fixed address threatened a security guard at the Station Mall. The accused was being escorted off of the property by security when he became upset and lunged at the security officer. The security officer backed away and the accused advised he was going to get him/her. No injuries were received by the victim. City Police were called and the accused was arrested. Mr. Williams has been charged with one count of assault and one count of threatening. He will appear in court on May 9th.


Motor Vehicle Accident

Last evening just before 11 pm City Police attended at the intersection of Great Northern Road and Willoughby for a single motor vehicle collision. It is alleged that Sonja Plastino of 21 Blue Jay Court was traveling north bound on Great Northern Road in her car when she attempted to turn right onto Willoughby and struck the traffic control light standard. The damage to her vehicle and the light standard is unknown at this time. Sonja Plastino has been charged with one count of impaired driving and one count of fail to provide breath sample. She will appear in court on May 16th.


Youth Charged With Criminal Harassment

Yesterday afternoon one of the High School Liaison officers arrested a 14-year old youth for incidents that stemmed from February to March against 3 other students at one of the centrally located high schools. It is alleged that the youth continually harassed one victim by threatening them, pushing them, punching them, and continually bullying the victim on a regular basis. One two occasions the same accused fired a pellet gun at this same victim as well as another victim, striking the first victim in the buttocks and the second victim in the stomach area. Neither victim required medical treatment. During the same time frame the accused allegedly told a third victim that he/she would shot the victim while pointing a pellet gun at this victim. The youth has been charged with one count of criminal harassment, one count of assault, one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and 3 counts of assault with a weapon. The youth will appear in court on May 10th
